Ingredients for making carrot jam

  1. Carrots 2 kilograms.
  2. Sugar 3 cups.
  3. Lemon 2 pieces.
  4. Rum (any) to taste.

Cooking carrot jam:

Step 1: prepare the carrots.

We wash the carrots under a stream of running water. Dry a little with a kitchen towel and peel with a peeler or knife. With a knife, cut the carrots on a cutting board into medium random pieces. Then put them in a pan, add water and simmer over low heat until completely softened. about 15-20 minutes.

Step 2: prepare the lemon juice.

We wash the lemons under a stream of running water, cut it in half with a knife on a cutting board. Using a juicer or hands, squeeze the juice from a lemon into a glass.

Step 3: cook the carrot jam.

Grind the cooked carrots with a meat grinder in a bowl. You can also grind carrots in a blender or in a food processor. Then transfer the carrots to the pan and cook over low heat a few minutes. Add lemon juice, granulated sugar, rum and, constantly stirring with a spatula, cook until thickened.

Step 4: roll the jam in the jars.

Banks and lids are washed under running water. Then sterilize in any way. Can be poured into a jar 1 centimeter of water and put it in the microwave for a couple of minutes. Boil the lids in a saucepan with water. Pour jam prepared into a jar with a spoon, pour on top 1-2 teaspoons rum and close the banks with a lid.

Step 5: serve the carrot jam.

We serve carrot jam for evening tea with pieces of white bread or cookies. Enjoy your meal!

Recipe Tips:

- - For jam, it is best to use freshly picked and healthy carrots of sweet varieties.

- - Rum can be replaced with cognac.

- - You can make jam without rum, and replace lemon juice with 2-3 grams of citric acid.
